I very much agree about all these heavy themes being present in the game, but I just want to stress that I don’t agree with the whole mentality that just because there are elements in a work of fiction aimed at a younger audience that one may not fully comprehend until they’re much older, that does not in any way imply that the thing was not as appropriate for children as originally thought.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with family-friendly entertainment presenting a full and honest representation of the human experience, and I think our society is in the process right now of shaking off that previous generation’s idea that everything needs to be sugar-coated for kids and they have to remain “innocent” and ignorant for an arbitrary amount of time, and I think that’s why there is so much of this picking apart of our past with all the didyouknowgamings and “OMFG MINDBLOW” theories applied to every single thing we’re nostalgic about on the internet right now. I just really hope the implication of all these things isn’t “OHWOW them sick bastirts sneaking in sick adult themes subliminally into our kids shows n games when we young lolololol no wonder we so messed up”
